Ogoni Utd In Good Form At Nationwide Play Off
Rivers State flag bearers at the 2012 amateur nation-wide league play off in Owerri, Ogoni United, Gokana United and Kilsi United FCs have been in good form, after the first round of matches.
Playing at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Kilsi United drew 1-1 with Central Rovers of Bayelsa State, while Gokana United also drew goalless with Fortune FC of Calabar.
However, in the Day Two games yesterday, Gokana United pummelled Sister Club, Kilsi United 4-0 to lead the log. Ogoni United also held Ekabokan FC to 1-1 draw, while Central Rovers beat Fortune FC 2-1.
Today is rest day in the zone while action resumes tomorrow.
Earlier, Chairman of Gokana Football Club, Dr Solomon Lah has said that the team was in high spirits, for the nationwide league play-off.
Dr Lah, said that the players having been together for the past two months, playing quality friendlies and being exposed to modern techniques in the game, were poised to face challenges associated with the play-off.
According to him, the team was focused on picking a qualification ticket from the Owerri zone. “We are confident of picking a promotion ticket because of our level of preparation so far”.
