Deep Sea Fishing: RSG Test Runs Two Trawlers
The Rivers State Government has commenced the test running of two, out of the five trawlers recently acquired for deep sea fishing in the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Aquaculture/Deep Sea fishing, Hon. Kuro Briggs who said this in an interview with newsmen in his office in Port Harcourt said that government had also acquired five thousand boats for distribution to artisan fishermen in the state.
Hon. Briggs said that the administration is building cold rooms and feed mills across the state, while a number of youths are being trained by the government at the Borokiri fishing terminals.
He said that the government efforts in this direction will help to boost fish production thereby creating employment opportunities for thousands of unemployed youths in the state.
According to him, the state which has enormous deep sea potentials can feed the entire nation in the area of fish production and other aquatic food.
Meanwhile, Hon. Briggs has said that the Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi’s government has laid a solid foundation for the future development of the state.
According to him, the last one into the administration’s second term, has seen improvement in infrastructural facilities, such as roads, education and health, while the power generating situation has been improved upon.
The Special Adviser also lauded the governor for the prevailing peace in the state and stressed the need for support to enable the administration do more for the state.
