I Did Not Alter My Records -Rivers HOS
The attention of the Office of the Head of Service has been drawn to recent erroneous and defamatory publications in some local tabloids in the state aimed at discrediting the Head of Service and causing disharmony and acrimony in the Rivers State Civil Service.
A statement issued by the Press Officer, Office of the Head of Service, Mr George Bamson stated unequivocally that the Head of Service, Mrs Esther Anucha had at no time in her civil service career altered her date of birth as contained in her record of service and has begun processing her papers for retirement in September, 2012 having joined the service in September, 1977.
It noted that the Head of Service, who had reached the peak of her civil service career, had performed her duties creditably and without blemish in all the ministries, departments and agencies that she had served.
In her tenure as Head of Service, Mrs Anucha introduced numerous landmark innovations that tremendously improved the welfare and service delivery capacities of the entire service workforce.
The statement attributed the masterminds of the erroneous publications to mischief makers whose intent was to becloud the laudable achievements recorded by the Head of Service and advised such persons to refrain from such acts and join hands to move the state Civil Service to higher level, to enable it achieve the transformation agenda of the state government.
It further advised the authors of the libelous publications to abide by the ethics and rules of the journalism profession and not to deceive the public with unfounded lies but rather to ascertain the correct facts from the Civil Service Commission.
While urging civil servants and the general public to discountenance the said publications, the statement advised journalists to always crosscheck their facts and not to be misled by those who have ulterior motives.
