Auchi Poly Expels 59 Students For Exam Malpractices, Forgery
Auchi Polytechnic in Edo
State, has expelled 59 students for examination malpractice and certificate forgery, its Rector, Dr. Phillipa Idogho has said.
Idogho told newsmen that the exercise was on-going and the institution was on course to stamp out all forms of malpractice.
“This exercise is not only a one-stop thing, that is why we always ensure that students are adequately prepared for their examinations and in return, we expect that they conduct themselves by not engaging in examination malpractice.
“We are also looking out for those who used forged certificates in gaining admission into the institution.
“We will continue to carry out certificate verification and like we have always done, anyone caught will be shown the way out and probably get prosecuted for forgery.”
The rector also said that any member of staff who made “certain demands” to grade students, would be sanctioned.
“The Polytechnic frowns and takes serious exception to this development and will take prompt and decisive action against employees who make such demands on students.”
The rector urged the students to be courageous to report cases of harassment.
Delta relocates students, pupils of closed schools
However in Delta State, a final year students of Lumen Christi, a private school in Asaba, closed by the State Government over registration irregularities, have been relocated to a public school.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare, told newsmen in Asaba that the students were relocated to St. Patrick’s College, Asaba.
Muoboghare said that the relocation was to enable them to participate in the ongoing Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination.
He added that affected primary six pupils had been relocated to Asagba Primary School, Asaba, for the First School Leaving Certificate Examination.
