Sanitation Court Convicts 36 Offenders In Kuje
An Environmental Sanitation Mobile Court in Kuje Area Council, FCT has sentenced 36 persons to three weeks imprisonment each for failure to observe the FCT monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
The convicts were, however, given an option of fine of N3, 000 each by Magistrate Mabel Segun-Bello who also discharged three minors.
Segun-Bello warned the convicts against further violations of the monthly sanitation exercise, noting that failure to abide by the law would attract stiffer penalty.
Mr Tijani Ado, Head of Environmental Sanitation Department of the council said the exercise was specifically organised to demolish shanties within Kuje town.
Ado called on residents of the council, especially the offenders to ensure full compliance in subsequent exercise to avoid embarrassment.
He said the council would not relent in its efforts to enlighten residents on the needs to observe the exercise and ensure clean surroundings.
