Obio/Akpor Motor Park For Commissioning Soon
A modern motor park with 1,200 vehicles parking capacity under construction by the Obio/Akpor Local Government Council of Rivers State has reached an advanced stage of completion.
The park when completed would serve as a major park to the ultra modern international market being built by the local government council.
The Chairman of the council, Hon. Timothy Nsirim disclosed this Monday, while conducting executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council led by its chairman, Mr. Opaka Dokubo round the projects.
Hon. Nsirim said the road would link the market with other facilities under construction, adding that the roads would ease traffic flow in the area when completed.
According to him, efforts were being intensified to ensure that these projects were completed for traders and investors in March, 2012.
Hon Nsirim said the network of roads from the main park to the international market, which is first of its kind in the country, was to allow free flow of traffic in and around the market complex and also enable traders to convey their goods and wares without hitch.
He also disclosed that there would be another mini park built close to the market for aged women that could not walk from the main motor park, which is about one kilometre away from the market, adding that necessary logistics had been put in place for the early completion of the first phase of the projects.
The chairman further hinted that the 400 lock-up shops with tiles and electrical fittings and 400 open stalls are almost ready, while other facilities at the market like fire service station, police station with a mini police barracks of 10 self contain, one bedroom flat, restaurant, crest for nursing mothers, a sick bar, recreation centre, a large abattoir, warehouse for importers among others are also in progress, calling on the people of the state and Nigeria in general to avail themselves of the opportunity and canvass for allocation with other foreign investors when they are ready.
