Thieves Invade Elelenwo Station Of Radio Rivers …Cart Away Gen Set Parts
Parts of two generating sets at the Elelenwo Station of the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation have been stolen by unknown persons.
The vandalised components include the AVR, kick starters and two brain boxes for the generators which had led to disruptions in transmission in the early hours of Wednesday.
Inspecting the vandalised generators, the General Manager, Ms. Medline Tador, described the act as sabotage since it was intended to ground the station and frustrate the genuine efforts of government at improving transmission of the station.
Ms. Tador also ordered an investigation into the theft with a view to apprehending the culprits.
While commending the Power Holding Company of Nigeria for assistance in restoring power at the station, Ms. Tador warned labourers and locals from the community to desist from encroaching or farming in the premises in their own interest.
She however, renewed the resolve of management and staff to weather the storm.
The General Manager was accompanied by the General Manager of neighbouring RSTV, Mr Tonye Ekong, Acting Director of Programmes, Radio Rivers, Mrs Florence Ekiye and the Radio Rivers acting Director, Technical Services, Mr Simeon Godwin, among others.
