RSYAF Urges GPHCA To Facilitate Work
Rivers State Youth Advancement Forum (RSYAF), has advised the management of Greater Port Harcourt City Authority (GPHCA) to facilitate the price of execution of the project.
The president of the group (RSYAF), Comrade Destiny Amadi made the call in Port Harcourt on Sunday, saying the management of GPHCA should work to defend the huge sum of money it has received so far.
Amadi said the Governor Amaechi’s aim to build a world class city through the GPHCA should be encouraged with vision by its management.
According to him, the Governor also planned to decongest old Port Harcourt City by transforming the covered by GPHCA, adding that meaningful work should be seen to be ongoing in that direction.
The RSYAF boss, who hinted that the money made available to the authority (GPHCA) runs into billions, urged that the impact created should be commensurate with the amount.
He also assured that RSYAF will partner with the state government in monitoring some activities of GPHCA.
Also speaking, the RSYAF Director of Projects /Statistics/Ethics, Comrade Aslemi Dagogo, advised the management of GPHCA not to use substandard materials for development in the new Port Harcourt City in order to meet up with the world class dream. He said they should engage firms with track records that could deliver quality and durable jobs.
He noted that such firms should also have the capacity to train the teeming Rivers youths, as GPHCA alone cannot achieve this.
In her views, the scribe of the group, Daisy Joy Banee, who lauded the governor over the GPHCA vision, said that its management should ensure that proper work is done in the area.
Bane maintained that the GPHCA is the state commonwealth. She promised on behalf of the group to always support the Amaechi’s administration.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
