Religious Body Okays Single Term For Executives
The Endtime Prophetic Prayer Network a Port Harcourt-based religious organisation says the proposal by the president to limit the tenure of the executives to one single term will engender good leadership in the country.
Members of the organization who said this in an interview will newsmen in Port Harcourt said that the proposal will eliminate vices usually associated with second tenures in Nigeria.
In his view, the president of the organisation, Mr. Godswill Jumbo, said that manipulation, rigging and other vices usually associated with re-election in Nigeria will be checked while those elected will be made to face the Herculean task of governance in the country.
He also stressed the need for the presidency to look into the issue of capital development to solve the problem of unemployment in the country.
In his view, Pastor Silas Jude Nwofor, said the proposal is good for the country if it has no hidden agenda.
“This is good for the health of our polity, because previously we have had challenges as those sworn in immediately begin to grab money and begin to build structures for their re-election which eventually lead to abandoning the core responsibility of development”, he said.
Pastor Nwafor also said that the issue of re-election has contributed to massive embezzlements of public funds in the country.
In their separate speeches, Apostle Ibe and Pastor I.E. Briggs, also endorsed the proposal contending that the situation will ensure purposeful leaderships in the country.
According to them, Nigerians irrespective of creed and ethnicity must support the proposal to ensure its workability.
