Garden City Games To Breathe Fresh Air Into PH
The National Sports Festival tagged “Garden City Games 2011” being hosted by Rivers State has been described as a plus to Governor Chubuike Rotimi Amaechi’s administration as it is bound to bring a breath of fresh air to the city or Port Harcourt.
A member of the Accommodation Sub-Committee of the Festival’s local organizing committee LOC, Chief Jimmy Coker stated this during an interview with The Tidesports in Port Harcourt yesterday.
Chief Coker said that, it is good thing that Rivers State Government is hosting the Games at this time that the state is undergoing renewal.
According to him, the only encounter the state would face is that of the multiple venue arrangement, where some of the events would take place, like the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium, Liberation, Civic Centre, Port Harcourt club and Uniport Centres.
T ease the envisaged traffic difficulty, he said the transport committee should ensure that ways of decongesting the roads to enable the athletes and officials move from one venue are enforced.
The committee member advised Rivers Stae contigent not to see the festival as a Jamboree, but ensure tht the state comes up tops on the final medal take, adding that the government had given them every necessary packages to motivate them. Consequently, the athlete have no excuse to fail.
