Rivers Angels Tackle Tokas Queens, ‘Morrow
Rivers State women football team, Rivers Angels FC is set to lock horns with Tokas Queens FC of Lagos this weekend in one of the week two matches of the on-going 2010/2011 National Women League season.
The Angels, who have been on intensive training since November 2010 say they are well prepared for the challenges of the season.
“We have prepared well and ready to go all the way this season.
We are determined to make a bold statement about our intentions by snatching the maximum points at stake this weekend”, said chief coach of the team, Okon Godwin.
Earlier, assistant coach of the team Whyte Ogbonda has said that the team will go far in the 2010/2011 soccer season.
“I want to say that the team will continue from their performance last season, starting with our outing this weekend, we pledge to make our fans and the Rivers people smile again”, he said.
Meanwhile, the week one matches could not hold, as scheduled and will await a new date.
According to the chief coach Okon Godwin, the matches failed to hold because of the club owners election held last week in Abuja.
It would be recalled that the Angels won the double in the 2009/2010 season after securing the league and FA Cup trophies.
