Presbyterian Church Synod Splits Into Two

The Mid-East Synod of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria has spilt into two with the new church now to be known as the “Reformed Presbyterian Church of Nigeria”.

Rev. Nwonu Eze, addressing newsmen on behalf of other members of the new church in Abakalik on Saturday, said the Reformed Presbyterian Church had to break away since it could not continue to “subject herself to anti -law church administration”.

The Mid East Synod, comprising Afikpo North and South, Ivo, Ohaozara and  Onicha Local Government Areas of Ebonyi, have for sometime now been in crisis.

The development led to the suspension of the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi, Prof. Chigozie Ogbu, and the state’s Commissioner for Works, Dr Paul Okorie by the church. Others suspended by the church include Elder C. Ewa, Elder Jombo Ukoma, Mr Odicha Ude, Rev. Ibiam Ukeni, Rev. Nwonu Eze, Rev. Amarachi Ukoma, Rev. Michael Ani, Rev. Aka Ibiam, Rev. David Amaramo and Rev. Nze Eke.
