Security, Crucial To Economic Dev – Amaechi
Gov. Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers has described security of the state as crucial to the economic development of the country.
Amaechi stated this when he received the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Mohammed Umar, in Port Harcourt recently.
He said Rivers remained crucial and imperative for the nation’s economic and industrialisation drive in view of the presence of numerous economic infrastructures in the state.
He commended the Air Force for its contributions to safeguarding national infrastructures and the restoration of peace and security to the state.
“Clearly, without your support economic infrastructure in the state such as the NLNG, Petro-chemical Company, Fertilizer Company and Refineries would have been affected during the period of violence.
“Without the involvement of the Nigerian Air Force too, the level of calm attained in the state would not have been possible due to its difficult terrain, especially its numerous creeks which criminals use as hideouts,” he said.
Amaechi said government was willing to make further contributions to support the Nigerian Air Force to enhance the cordial relationship between it and the state.
Earlier, Umar assured the governor that the Nigerian Air Force would continue to support the state in the area of maintenance of peace and the security of lives and property.
He expressed gratitude to Amaechi for his doggedness in the face of the challenges of violence and insecurity in the state.
