Car, Housing Loans For Rivers Workers, Soon
The first batch of car/housing revolving loans for civil servants in Rivers State will be disbursed to beneficiaries before the end of this month.
The Head of Service, Mrs Esther Anucha made this known yesterday at a thanksgiving session/send forth party for retirees of the office of the Head of Service held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Justice, Port Harcourt.
Mrs Anucha who attributed the delay in the disbursement of the loans to difficulties encountered in recovering the loans from past beneficiaries, said with the introduction of the e-payment system, efforts were being made to recover the loans.
The Head of Service told Rivers workers that the state government acknowledged their contributions to the development of the state and was highly committed to their welfare to ensure effective service delivery.
On training, Mrs Anucha said that her office had in the past years embarked on intensive capacity building programmes to improve the capacities of workers, promising that more staff would be trained this year.
She recalled the successes recorded in 2010, especially the Civil Service Week which witnessed numerous innovations including the inauguration of the Civil Service Choir, the launch of the Rivers Bureaucrat, and a raffle draw competition won by one lucky civil servant who became an owner of a brand new car.
Mrs Anucha congratulated the retirees for their meritorious service, and urged those still in service to continue to render a committed and dedicated service in order to retire honourably without any blemish.
The Head of Service used the occasion to announce that an enlarged thanksgiving session involving the entire civil service workforce would hold next Monday with the wife of the State Governor, Dame Judith Amaechi as special guest.
In a brief exhortation, Rev. Christian Chukwu, who presided over the worship and prayer session, admonished civil servants to draw closer to God whose grace enables one to prosper.
Prayers were offered for the State Government, the Head of Service and the entire civil service workforce.
