Voters Registration: Egi Monarch Seeks Mass Participation
The Eze Egi, Eze Kingdom Elemchukwu Elenwo has urged the people of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of Rivers State to embrace the forthcoming voters registration exercise to enable them participate in the 2011 general elections.
Eze Elenwo who made the call at his Akabuka palace at the end of this year’s new yam festival, known as Egu Egi said participation in the electoral process remains the sure way of voting for the candidacy of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in his second term bid.
Eze Elenwo used the occasion to thank the state government for upgrading the Eze Egi stool to second class status, adding that the governor’s track record of development projects justify his second aHterm bid.
He however, urged the Egi people to remain law abiding as no development can materialise in an unhealthy atmosphere even as he called on the relevant authorities to release his chief’s stipends that has been on hold since his elevation.
The Eze Egi particularly urged youth of the area to embrace education which he described as a worthy legacy in which the Amaechi administration is bequeathing on the youth of the state taking cognizance of the massive investment in the development of the education and health sectors in the state.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
