CJ Lauds Institute Over Projects Execution

Rivers State Chief Judge, Justice Iche Ndu has lauded the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies for embarking on projects that would promote the legal profession in the country.

Justice Ndu made the commendation while receiving members of the institute of Advanced Legal Studies who paid him a courtesy call in Port Harcourt last week.

He pointed out that for the institute to visit and to make a Compendium Laws of the State Customary Court of Appeal was a welcome development to the state judiciary service.

Justice Ndu told the delegates that all the high court halls in the state Judiciary had been properly equipped with modem technologies including the installation of internet facilities to enhance their judicial processes.

The State Chief Judge explained that Rivers State was the first state where the rule of law procedure started in 2006, while its amended rule of law procedure came up this year, 2010.

He commended the president of the State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice P.N.C. Agumagu for his vision by bringing in the institute of Advanced Legal Studies to compile a compendium of the State Customary Court of Appeal Laws in the state and wished the institute a happy stay.

Earlier, the Director General of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Professor Epifani Azinge said they were in the state to partner with the Customary Court of Appeal to embark on a project of collating and ascertaining the Customary Laws of Rivers State.

The Director General who was represented by the Director of Research, Professor Bolaji Owasanoye explained that their visit was to design and exchange views with each other as well as to share their experience as academic and researchers with the judiciary in order to produce customs to administer justice.

He commended the state Chief Judge, Justice Iche Ndu for his efforts in ensuring that justice was dispensed as quickly as possible in the state.

Also speaking the president of the Rivers State Customary Court of Appeal Justice P.N.C Agumagu said the delegation from the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies to the state was to compile a compendium of Laws of the state customary court as to make it obtainable anywhere across the country when it came about marriage amongst others.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.

According to the Head of Service, Governor Fubara has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Rivers State, stressing that such gestures underscore his people-oriented leadership style.
