Kidnappers Abduct LG Head Of Personnel In Rivers
The Head, Personnel Management (HPM) of Andoni Local Government of Rivers State, Mr. Gibson Jacob was in the early hours of Sunday kidnapped at his residence in Degema town, Degema Local Government Area of the state.
A family source who disclosed his identity to The Tide as Mr. Joyful Wulo revealed that Mr Jacob who had come home for the weekend was in shorts and white singlet at his residential home when his abductors suddenly swooped on him and took him away at gun-point.
According to Wulo who is a nephew to the victim the kidnappers allegedly protected their plan inconnivance with about four youths from the community (names withheld) who were apprehended and handed over to the Police.
The Tide gathered that two armed youths had besieged the off-Agric Estate of Mr. Gibson and commandeered him into a waiting speedboat at the Agric Waterside and drove him away, through the River Sombreiro.
The kidnap incident, eye witnesses said created an uneasy calm in the area with vehicular movement and Church services partially disrupted in the early hours of Sunday.
The timely intervention of the Nigeria Police Force, Degema Divisional headquarters and the Joint Military Taskforce doused the tension of the incident which was the first in the area created.
At the time of going to the Press, family sources told The Tide that the family has not been able to make contacts with the kidnappers.
When contacted, the Deputy Police Public Relation officer, Mr. Nkombe Moses confirmed the kidnap of the Andoni Local Government Council’s Head of Personnel Management.
He said that personnel and officers from the various units will be mobilsed to ensure the rescue of the victim.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
