RSNC GM Charges Academy To Maintain Standard
The management and staff of Starlet Academy Port Harcourt have been admonished to sustain the high reputation for which the institution has earned for itself.
The General Manager of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC), Mr. Celestine Ogolo gave the admonition during the send forth/graduation ceremony of the school.
Mr. Ogolo who was chairman of the occasion described Starlet Academy has an institution of repute, stressing that it is one place that children should be brought to be trained.
He used the occasion to call on the outgoing students to be good ambassadors of the school, stressing that it behoved them to showcase those qualities for which the institution is known.
In his speech, the Director of the school, Dr. Kudo Eresia Eke said that he was happy with the success story of the school.
Dr Eke who was represented by Mr. Essor however, described it as the beginning of great things to come to the school.
In her vote of thanks, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Bernadine Umunnakwe also advised the outgoing students to put into use what they had learnt in the school and thanked parents and others for their support during the outgoing year.
Highlights of the event was the presentation of prizes to some students, teachers and parents.
Accordingly, Master Victor Ogolo emerged as best student in Junior Secondary School (JSS 1), Chizi Madume emerged in (JSS II), while Chidinma Enebeli and Emile Amoebi emerged best students in SS I and II respectively.
The rest are, Abiye Amadi emerged as best student in French, Mrs. Patricia emerged as the best teacher amongst others.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
