An auto marketing company, the Coscharis Motors, and the authorised distributors of Ford, BMW and Landrover vehicles in Nigeria has partnered with the Lagos State Government on the training of auto mechanics at the Eko Engineering Ventures premises.
The 25 years public private partnership (PPP) is geared towards developing Nigerian youths, both indigenes and non indigenes of Lagos, including university graduates in the field of engineering, into professional mechanics and drivers.
This will also serve as an automobile maintenance base for vehicles of all types in the state.
Speaking at the handover ceremony recently, Ayo Gbeleyi, Director General PPP office said the new partnership is with Coscharis Nigeria Limited for the development of an ultra modern automobile centre for both sales and after sales support, to develop a driving institute.
This also is to develop skill acquisition centre with a focus on auto mechanic and capacity building.
According to him, “Therefore, I want to handover this premises which originally belong to Eko Engineering Ventures of Lagos State government to our new partner for a new development to the society.”
He said that the facility would be operational in six months, and it is expected that in the next five years, about 650 qualified and certified auto mechanics would be trained out of the facility.
