LG Boss Institutes Quiz Competition For Schools
The Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Hon Lawrence Abiebiari has announced the setting-up of a five-man committee to organize a quiz competition among the various schools in the area.
The Vice Principal, Government Technical College, (UBE), Ele-Ogu, Mr Rufus Jeremiah, is the chairman of the committee.
Hon Abiebiari, who disclosed this during this year’s children’s day celebration in the area, said the first will cart home the sum N200,000, second N100,000 while the third will go home with N50,000.
According to him, 20 students would also be chosen from each school to write a test on Mathematics, English Language, Bible Knowledge and General Papers, adding that, the best with a score of 70 per cent in each of the subjects would go home with N100,000, second –N70,000 while third place will pocket N50,000 each.
The chairman, who also redeemed his earlier pledge of N200,000 to teachers that participated in last year’s children’s day match past, enjoined the students and pupils to take their education serious, saying that it is the “bedrock of the future generation”.
At the end of the match-past, Government secondary school, Ogu and Community Secondary School, Bolo, emerged first and second respectively among senior secondary schools.
At the UBE level, GSS Ogu took first, Government Technical College Ele-Ogu came second, and Community Secondary School, Bolo emerged third, while in the primary school level, State School Bolo came first, State School (two), Ogu were second, and Greater Evangelism Primary School finished third.
Highlights of the day included presentation of books to all the participating schools.
