Cleric Advises Amaechi On Projects Monitoring
Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, had been advised to closely monitor contractors handling on-going projects in Port Harcourt and parts of the state to ensure early delivery.
Archbishop of Niger Delta Province, Most Rt. Rev. Ignatius Kattey, gave the advice in an interview with The Tide correspondent at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.
Most Rt Rev. Kattey, who expressed disappointment at the slow pace of work on most road projects embarked upon by the Amaechi-led administration noted that, “if the Governor does not monitor the contractors, they will continue to embarrass him.”
The man of God wondered how road projects started about 4 years ago would remain uncompleted even when the contractors were paid upfront and enjoined Governor Amaechi to be serious with them so that the people would enjoy the dividend of democracy.
On the number of political parties for the country, he supported the existence of multiple parties to give Nigerians the opportunity of participating in politics.
He called on President Goodluck Jonathan to concentrate on providing good roads, light and water for the Niger Delta people, pointing out that, Jonathan as a son of the region knows the problems of the area.
Most Rt. Rev. Kattey stressed the need for Christians to be given the opportunity to participate in politics adding that the church would continue to pray for government and the country for peace, free and fair elections to thrive in the nation.
