Sylva Condoles Macebuh’s Family
The Bayelsa State Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva has described late Dr. Stanley Macebuh, as an icon of journalism who practiced the profession without sensationalism, sentment or bias, whose style should be emulate by his colleagues who still living.
Chief Sylva who stated in his tribute to late journalist in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Dofie Ola, remarked that “Macebuh practiced journalism devoid of sensationalism, half truth, and bareface lie, whether in his days at Daily Times, The Guardian, The Post Express or The Sentinel”.
“These titles, he said, under the editorial guidiance of macebuh never descend in to the practice of emphasising the most grid, shocking or enclave aspects of our society for selfish pecuniary advantage.”
The Governor praised the late jopurnalist considered his choice of subjects, knowing that the things he put into words and mass communicates could seriously affect the lives of other people and the character of society generally.
Urging journalists to emulate the professional ideas of Macebuh, Chief Sylva who further described him a seasoned professional and essayist, said he will forever live in “our hearts and we will never forget the ideas he left behind for journalism, and prayed God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Late Macebuh died at the age of 67 in an Abuja National hospital after a brief illness. He was a pioneer managing director of The Guardian and also of The Post Publishing Company, A former Editor-In-Chief Post Express. His last public post before his death was Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to the former president Olusegun Obasanjo.
