2010, A Year Of ‘Magic’ For Nigeria – Ikuru
Rivers State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru has charged Nigerians to have deep reflection on how the country could become great, describing 2010 as a year of magic for Nigeria to achieve her development goals.
Engr. Ikuru made the assertion at the 2010 New Year Day Thanksgiving Service of St. Simon’s Anglican Church, Ikuru Town in Andoni Local Government Area of the State.
The Deputy Governor, accompanied by his wife, Dr. Mina Ikuru expressed optimism that the Federal Government’s Vision 20:2020 economic projection would be realised and enjoined Nigerians to be diligent and sincere in their dealings with one another.
Positing that our targets cannot be gotten through manipulation, he said “we hope by the year 2020, Nigeria’s economy will improve to position the country among the first twenty developed countries of the world as calculated by our leaders”,
In his sermon, the Vicar in charge of the Church, Venerable David Gogo Enyinna urged Christians to lead exemplary life, making peace and love their watchwords in this New Year.
Taking the message from Isaiah Chapter 1 verse 18, the man of God stressed the need for Nigerians to return to God and turn from their evil ways, saying “a good name is better than riches”.
Venerable Enyinna used the service to call on the people of Ikuru Town to uphold the Christian virtue of their ancestors by being humble and embrace genuine repentance to attract the blessings of God to their community.
