Nkoro Kingdom Wants Recognition As Ethnic Entity
The people of Nkoro Kingdom in the Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area in Rivers State has urged for the official recognition of the kingdom as a distinct ethnic entity.
The spokesman of Nkoro Council of Chiefs, Alabo Rogers Ibibo Oroni III who said this during the first Nkoro National Day of thanksgiving also urged for a link road to link all communities in Nkoro Kingdom.
Alabo Oroni said that the thanksgiving service was organised by the people to invoke the blessing of God into the kingdom.
In his welcome address, the General Secretary of the Nkoro National Day of Thanksgiving, Pastor Lynus Kpokpo said that the event was to appreciate God for what he has done for the people in the past and what he is doing today.
“We reverently expect and faithfully anticipate God’s full glory to return to Nkoro Kingdom from this day,” he said.
He also urged the Sate Government to recognise and restore the ancient throne of Nkoro Kingdom as an ethnic entity with unique national feature and adequate requirement for having an autonomous local government.
In his keynote address, the chairman of the organising committee, Mr. J. P. Neveragain said that the Nkoro Kingdom is up to recover its stolen destiny of greatness and all the privileges wherever they may be.
