PCRC Commends Amaechi For Donating Patrol Vehicles
The Governor of Rivers State, Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has been given a pat on the back for supporting the State Police Command with over 100 patrol vehicles.
The chairman of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Area Command, Port Harcourt, Mr Austen Yong who made the commendation during their end of year award ceremony said the gesture would help the police combat crime in the state.
Mr Yong also commended the governor for rehabilitating the repentant militants and for the dial 247 project that has enhanced security in the state.
He also called on the police to police with human face, and disclosed that the body would soon embark on public enlightenment campaign to sensitise members of the public on the need to be police friendly.
The PCRC Area Command chairman hinted that the event was packaged to appreciate persons, organisations, and communities that have promoted police-public collaboration for peace and security, and lauded all those that have made the occasion successful.
In his remarks, the state Commissioner of Police Suleiman Abba called for greater collaboration between the police and the public, and urged members of the public to volunteer prompt information to the police on criminal activities.
Mr Abba decried ransome paying to the police, saying that the era had gone and that anyone caught would face the music, and commended PCRC for their judgement in the award.
The commissioner was represented by the Area Commanded, Port Harcourt, metropolise, aC Makama Dabup.
Highlights of the occasion was award to deserving police officers, individuals and organisations.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
