Amaechi, Defender Of Christian Faith – Ambassador
The governor of Rivers State, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has been described in far away Israel as the Defender of the Christian faith.
The Nigerian Ambassador to Israel, His Excellency S. A. Dada -Olisa, who stated this Wednesday, in Jerusalem at a ceremony for the award of Jerusalem Pilgrim (JP) certificates and penants to about 1,600 Nigerian pilgrims who concluded the pilgrimage in the holy land.
Observing that Amaechi had in the past two years remained the number one among the 36 states governors in the sponsorship of the highest broad-based number of pilgrims to Jerusalem, the Ambassador prayed that “as he propagates of faith, God will bless him.”
Dada-Olisa called on the pilgrims to support the Rivers State governor in his efforts to build a progressive and egalitarian society.
Reiterating the essence, benefits and challenges of the pilgrimage, the Ambassador reminded the pilgrims that their new status would attract greater challenges as all aspects of their lives would be watched.
“It is up to you to choose what path to follow. If you choose the right path, blessings will follow you and your family, if you choose the wrong path, you lose your blessings and become a 419 JP,” he said. According to the ambassador, the new JPs must take home rich doses of love that would affect their society and with which they can attain all goodness and blessings, stressing that, “of all you have seen, affirmed and confirmed, we must radiate God’s love.
In his speech, the Israeli First Deputy Director-General in the Minsitry of Tourism, Mr Ralph Ben Hur expressed Israeli government’s appreciation to the Nigerian government and the government of Rivers State in particular for their age-long partnership, especially in the sponsorship of the pilgrimage to the holy land and stated that, “we will not forget Nigeria”.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
