Nigeria’s Hockey Players Set For Nairobi Meet
Nigeria’s flag bearers in the Hockey Africa Cup for club champions in Nairobi scheduled for December 12-22 have stepped-up preparations for the meet. The country’s four flag bearers are: Niger State in the male category; Yobe (male); Imo (female); and Bayelsa (female). The teams have as at Press time gone into close camping to ensure adequate preparation and representation for the country. A senior official who preferred anonymity, told Tidesports in a telephone chat that all hands are on desk to ensure that Nigerian teams go far in the Kenya champion. The defending championship for the championship is shakians of Egypt in the male category. According to our source, “there will be serious performance by the Nigerian tems in the forth-coming meet, to prove that the Nigeran teams have improved in the game. “Nigerian teams will go far in the competition because they are preparing very hard for the championship, he said. It would be recalled that the nation embarked on a national championship in Rivers State to strengthen the hockey team in preparation for the tourney.
