Micro Credit Scheme: Delta Govt Commended
Operators in the microfinance market of the country have commended the micro credit scheme of the Delta State government.
The Delta State Micro Credit Programme (DMCP), they said, is capable of providing jobs for Deltans as well as speed up poverty reduction.
One of the operators, Mr Godwin Isawhe, Managing Director, Iyede Microfinance Bank while commending the state governor said, the scheme would touch the lives of the active poor in both rural and urban areas of the Delta State.
He praised the state government under the tutelage of Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan for distributing the loans without political bias and selfish interest.
Isawhe whose bank is one of the disbursing MFBs emphasised that the fund had impacted more lives as a result of the little loans they are receiving.
This scheme has no doubt touched the lives of the rural people and down trodden positively, he said. He therefore appealed to the state government to increase the loans grant to those who have successfully repaid their loans, adding that, at least N50,000 should be tied to one person.
Satisfied with the rate of loan recovery, he indicated that more than half of the loans extended to the bank for onward transmission to the active poor have been repaid. He assured the state government of easy and early recovery of all loans and suggested for increase in the next round of the loans grants to the poor masses.
