Gallant Sharks Loses 0-1 To Enyimba
The header of Musa Mustapha of Enyimba International FC in the 38 minutes of 2009 Federation Cup final at Teslim Balogun Stadium Lagos yesterday, ended Sharks FC dream of lifting a trophy for the first time.
Sharks FC players who tried in vain to get an equalizer for what turned out to be the only goal of the match, resorted to pressure to drive home their hunger and passion to break the jinx that has become a history.
No thanks to Huan of Sharks who toiled with a clear opportunity to threaten Enyimba’s keeper, Chijioke Ejiogu in the 66th minutes. He rather delayed creating room for Enymiba’s defence action.
All effort by Sharks FC to penetrate Enyimba’s defence failed to hold water but rather resulted to more yellow cards to both clubs.
The Peoples Elephants on the other hand played more of a defensive game in the second half, also delaying as much as possible, waiting for the final whistle by the referee which earned her keeper a yellow card at the 66 minute.
Enyimba by this victory has lifted the trophy for the second time, as the players become N.5million richer, going by the promise of Governor Theodor Orji before the final match.
It would be recalled that this is the third time that the blue Angles of Port Harcourt are loosing in the final of federation cup.
