Uniport Targets Improved Performance At NUGA
The Director of Sports, Students Union of University of Port Harcourt, Mr Atumoye Ifeanyi has said that University of Port Harcourt will make Rivers State proud in the next edition of the Nigerian University Games, NUGA.
Atumoye made this statement in an exclusive chat with Tidesports in Port Harcourt recently.
According to him, UNIPORT is currently an institution with a high sense of sporting culture, unlike what used to be the case in the past. He said that all hands were seriously on deCk towards ensuring that the institution’s presence is felt in the forthcoming NUGA fiesta scheduled for the University of Benin next year.
Atumoye further maintained that before his assumption of office as the SUG Sports Director, Uniport’s male football and Basket ball teams had not been participating in the previous inter Universities games.
He however, assured that all that was now history, as the both teams have been revamped.
He also reiterated that Uniport will soon embark on its traditional sports fiesta tagged the “Vice Chancellor’s Cup”, noting that the fiesta will involve all the sporting events that are usually showcased in NUGA.
The final year communications student also used the medium to call on the State Government, corporate organisations and other grassroots sports promoters to come and support the University’s sports project.
