All Stars Chairman Urges RSG To Renovate Sports Facilities
The Chairman of All Stars International Football Club of Port Harcourt, Tekana Iyalla has appealed to Rivers State Government through the Ministry of Sports to give priority to grassroots sports development in the State.
He explained that grassroots sports competition and promotion was where a lot of talents were discovered in the past and commended the idea that led to the establishment of Port Harcourt Real Madrid Football Academy, even though it has not commenced.
Iyalla said this at the weekend in a Radio programme monitored by Tidesports in Port Harcourt. He said that the government should renovate all the sports facilities in the State, mostly in Port Harcourt township to enable young athletes have access to training platforms.
“Port Harcourt township was well planned by the Europeans because at different locations, you see recreational facilities
“Apart from that, there were a lot of sporting facilities, so I plead that the government should try and renovate the facilities so that athletes will go there to train and it will help in discovering talents in different sports” Iyalla said.
