Monarch Bags Award, Recommits To Peace, Security
Paramount ruler of Mbiama Community, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, HRH Smith Otovie Sylvanus, has been conferred with an award by the National Union of Izon-Ibe students, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education chapter, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Presenting the award christened, ‘Award for Outstanding Performance’ to the traditional ruler’, the students group led by its chapter President, Comrade Onisolaimen Anthony, stated that the reason for the award was the monarch’s outstanding performance upon his enthronement as ruler of the border community.
He noted that the students’ body comprising students of various clans of the Ijaw ethnic nationality after a meticulous study of the antecedents of the paramount ruler, resolved to amongst others confer an award on him.
The students’ leader noted that upon the assumption of the reins of power in the community, peace and tranquility now pervade all areas of the community.
The Izon-Ibe students applauded the monarch for his mentorship and humane leadership style, describing him as an epitome of peace and development, worthy of emulation.
Receiving the award, the Mbiama monarch thanked the students for finding him worthy for the award.
He stated that the award given him would spur him to do more for the community and all residents, promising that more than ever before, the community under his leadership would become the envy of all.
He averred that peace; security of lives and property as well as infrastructural development would become some of his landmark achievements as a monarch.
He described the students as leaders of tomorrow, saying he would not relent in giving support to students within and outside the community within limits of available resources as a paramount ruler.
It would be recalled that upon his enthronement early this year, the Mbiama monarch kick started a weekly sanitation exercise in the community and naming of streets, amongst other projects.
