Egypt FA Imports German Referee For Cairo Derby
German referee Felix Brych is set to officiate the 2019 Egyptian Super Cup game between Cairo giants Al Ahly and Zamalek today.
This has been revealed by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA).
Brych will be assisted by his countrymen Mark Borsch and Stefan Lupp according to the organisation.
The EFA released the following statement:
“Gamal el-Ghandour’s main referees’ committee has re-selected a German crew led by Felix Britsch along with assistants Mark Porsche and Stefan Loeb to manage the 16th Super Cup meeting between Al Ahli and Zamalek on Friday evening at Al Jaish Stadium in Borg El Arab,” a statement read.
The 44-year-old is no stranger to North African football having officiated matches featuring Egyptian clubs.
Brych officiated Ahly’s clash with Haras El-Hodoud in the 2010 Egypt Cup final.
He was also in charge of Zamalek’s encounter against Al-Hilal in the 2018 Egyptian-Saudi Super Cup.
