Cricket Oval Construction Near Completion – Official
Secretary General of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), Kabir Yusuf, says construction work on one of the cricket ovals in the National Stadium, Abuja is 90 per cent completed.
Yusuf told the Tidesports source in Abuja that the pitch was ready for games though work on the pavilion was still ongoing.
“One is in the finishing stage, because we have finished working inside the pitch, it’s only the pavilion outside where we are waiting for approval from the FCDA.
“The oval is at 90 per cent because we can even play on it now. We have finished the pitch.
“This pavilion is just for the spectators, but the second pitch is ongoing because we have done the first phase of the work, remaining the second phase.
“We are hopeful (that) by the end of this month we will start (work) again”.
Yusuf said the completion of the oval would allow Nigeria to host international cricket events.
He added that the pavilion would accommodate parking spaces, spectator’s arena and dressing room for players.
