Rivers Male Cricketers Out of Zonal Championship
Rivers State Cricket
team failed to qualify to represent the South-South Zone, at the National Male Cricket Championship, held in Abuja at the weekend.
Head Coach of the State Cricket Association, Tonye Timinadi, made this known in an exclusive interview with Tidesports, at the weekend, in Port Harcourt.
He explained that his boys played well, but luck was not on there side to get to the finals as their female counterpart.
‘Actually, we did our best but I guess luck was not on our side, this time, but we hope to win the trophy next year”, Timinadi said.
According to him, the state Director of Sports has promised to officially receive and organise a reception for the State Female Cricket team that won the 2014 National Women Cricket Championship held forthnight ago in Abuja.
“I believe that might go along with the Rivers Angels FC reception, following their double trophy achievement this season”, he stated.
It would be recalled that the Angels won the 2014 Women Federation Cup competition and league title this season.
