Jonathan Donates N50m To Supporters’ Club
President Goodluck
Jonathan, has come to the financial aid of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club by making a financial donation to the group as they seek to raise enough funds to enable them accompany the national team to the World Cup in Brazil this summer.
The President donated the sum of N50 million to the group recently at the Presidential Villa, where he was honoured as the Grand-Patron of the Supporters Club.
President Jonathan stated that the donation was made to aid the group in their preparations for the World Cup. He urged them not to relent in their support to the various national teams and promised them he would solicit with prominent Nigerians to come to the aid of the group.
“We need to encourage you to go to Brazil. We will give you a token. We will start with N50 million and we will talk to some of our senior boys to support you,” the President promised.
President-General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Rafiu Ladipo, recently revealed that the group will need a minimum of N800 million to prosecute their programmes for the summer.
