Wikki Supporters Not Happy With Team’s Performance
Supporters of Wikki Tourist FC of Bauchi have expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s performance in the on-going Nigeria Premier League.
The supporters, led by Haruna Gadau, met with the club’s management last weekend in Bauchi, and demanded the recruitment of experienced attackers to enhance the team’s goal-scoring ability.
Gadau, who spoke on behalf of the supporters, observed that the performance of the club in the league, was unimpressive, citing the recent 3-0 defeat it suffered in the hands of Kaduna Utd FC.
He attributed the poor scoring ability of the team to lack of dedicated and sharp attackers, who could score goals at any given opportunity.
“We urge the management to ensure that sharp and tested attackers are brought to the team before the end of the first stanza of the league,” he said.
He, however, commended the state government for its financial support to the club, and called on the players to justify the huge resources being spent on them by the government.
Responding, the chairman of club, Alhaji Sule Chindo, thanked the supporters for their concern, assuring that the management had started taking measures to enhance the team’s performance.
Chindo promised that immediately the transfer window opened, new players would be recruited to fortify the team, while those who were not performing would be placed on transfer.
He also expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the team in its encounter with Kaduna United, saying the attackers and mid-fielders did not give a good account of themselves.
“I will not just fold my arms and watch the club perform badly in spite of the huge resource spent on it by the government.”
