FRSC Presents Certificates To Fleet Operators
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is set to present certificates to transport operators it has deemed to operate their fleet under the road transport safety standardisation scheme (RTSSS).
The FRSC had in January embarked on a five-day fleet certification programme across the nation in line with relevant road traffic regulations. The regulation mandates the FRSC to maintain a data bank of transport operators with up to five vehicles in their fleet.
A statement signed by the FRSC’s public Education Officer, Mr Nseobong Akpabio, on Saturday in Abuja said those to be issued certificates had met the certification requirements.
“The requirements include registration with FRSC, appointment of competent safety managers, operating with trained drivers and good road safety policy,” it said.
The statement said the occasion, at which the secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) , Alhaji Ahmed Yayale, whould be the special guest, would also be used to present a compendium on road crashes, especially those involving articulated vehicles between January 2007 and June, 2010,” it said.
Other dignitaries expected at the event include Alhaji Bayero Nafada and the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed.
