Whyte Berates Sharks Over Poor Performance
One time Vice-Chairman of Port Harcourt Local Government Area and former board member of Sharks FC, Hon. Alphine Whyte, has described the current players recruited by the management of Sharks Football Club in the 2010 League season as deadwoods.
Making this known in an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt, Whyte noted with dismay the poor performances of Sharks’ players against Dolphins FC in the week 25 Globacom Premier League which ended goalless penultimate Saturday.
According to him, there is no doubt that the Sharks team that played against Dolphins was mere shadow of what the team should be and if nothing is done to improve their approach to games, the club is doomed to be relegated at the end of the season.
“It was very glaring that the players lacked direction, commitment, pattern and enough spirit, in their game as a side aspiring to end the season among the best three”, he said.
He continued that, now may be the time to look into Sharks team and assess some players’ performances, since most of them were yet to justify the huge amount paid for their recruitment.
“Besides, he said, the consortium of coaches in Sharks are not helping matters”. He called for the number of coaches to be pruned down to avoid bickering and distraction in the team.
Speaking on the way forward, Whyte was of the view that an immediate task force should be constituted to monitor closely the performances of Sharks before it will be too late for the club.
“It is about time the state government wade into the problems of Sharks by setting-up a task force that will over-see the club and proffer a lasting solution to the situation.
