NASU Introduces Welfare Scheme In Rivpoly
The Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of the Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori chapter has introduced a welfare scheme to members in order to alleviate the economic and financial burden of its members in the state.
While presenting an address at the send-forth party organised in honour of two of the union members, Mrs Gladsy Adele and Mr. Kofi Nwibenale, the Chairman of the Rivpoly NASU, Comrade Levi Eke said the welfare scheme will go a long way in improving the lives of members.
According to Comrade Eke, the purpose of such scheme was to approve benefits for retired staff of Rivpoly and their next of kin in the case of death.
These benefits, Eke said, are the hall mark in the union’s efforts to ensure that members enjoy their period of service while in the institution.
The NASU Chairman, thanked the rector of Rivpoly, Professor T.G. Sokari for his cooperation in facilitating the realisation of the scheme.
He also used this medium to call on the Rivers State governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and multinational companies operating in the state to adequately fund the polytechnic to enable it produce qualitative middle level manpower for the state in particular and the country at large.
In his response, the Deputy Rector of Rivpoly, Sir Obiako Nwolu-Elechi, who represented Professor Sokari the rector of Rivpoly lauded the NASU executive for the initiative in setting up the welfare scheme.
He also urged all NASU branches and other institutions to borrow a leaf from the initiative of Rivpoly.
