Supreme Court Judgement: Govt Functionaries Call For Truce
As the Supreme Court struck out the case instituted by Bar. Celestine Omehia, a cross section of Rivers indigenes have called for a halt in litigation against the Governor to allow meaningful development of the state.
Some of those who spoke with The Tide on Tuesday at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, include the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tonye Harry, Commissioner for Health, Hon. Sampson Parker, Kingsely Chinda, Environment Commissioner, Hon. Georgeford Nwosu, member, House of Representatives and Hon. Karian Nwobodo, Ikwerre local government chairman, said even though the numerous court cases did not distract the Governor, it could slow progress and development in the state. They urged the opposition to take the Judgement in good faith, and urged them to join forces in moving the state forward.
According to them it is time to rebuild the state and support the government for the growth of Rivers State.
Also, Hon. Georgeford Nwosu, noted that about 200 Rivers indigenes were in the court and urged all aggrieved persons to give peace a chance and work with the government for further development of Rivers State.
