PAMO University Inducts 13 Pioneer Nurses …Announces Immediate Employment For Graduands …Splashes Cash Donation, Laptops, Others
The PAMO University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has inducted its first pioneer 13 graduates from the Department of Nursing Science of the university into the nursing profession.
The university also offered immediate employment to all the inducted newly admitted nurses from the school as well as cash donations to all the affected nurses of the school origins.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the university, Dr Peter Odili, who made the donation on behalf of the institution, said the gesture was to encourage the nurses to have new beginning after graduating from the university.
Odili also announced a cash donation of N500,000 to the overall best graduating student, N200,000 to the best graduating students from each of the departments while seven got N100,000, laptops and other donations were given to all the inductees.
He also urged them to thank the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, and their parents for giving them the platform to become nurses through the university.
“One thing I want to advise you all is that you should show appreciation to the governor of the state and your parents, and do what they ask you to do”, he state.

Performing the induction service, the Registrar/Secretary General, Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), Alhaji Farouk Umah Abubaka, while admitting the new inductees, urged them to exhibit high level of professionalism and abide by the oath of the profession while discharging their duties.
He announced a provisional one year license for each of the inducted nurses, and lauded the PAMO University of Medical Sciences for their exceptional excellence in their academic studies, adding that the students performed excellently during their qualifying examinations.
Delivering her induction lectureon the topic: “The Challenges Needs and its Expeditions from the Patients the Role of 21stCentury Nurse”, the guest lecturer, Dr Cuff Cornelius Timighe, urged them exhibit the virtues of humility, patience and care while discharging their professional duties, adding that they were expected to maintain good relationship with their patients.
“All you need to be is nurse, while sleeping, eating work with integrity and politeness”, he said, adding that the society expects much from them.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the Vice Chancellor, PAMO University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt, Prof Michael, Diejomoh, while congratulating the newly inducted nurses for their academic feats, urged them to remain ambassadors of the university.
Miss Samchisadede Glad received the overall best student award and won the university’s golden prize.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
