Traditional Ruler Tasks Chiefs On Fear Of God
The Nyerisi Mbam Oro Esara Kingdom in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Eze S.O. Worlu, has called on chiefs of various communities in the kingdom to rule with the fear of God.
Eze Worlu said this shortly after the capping and installing eleven chiefs at his palace in Rumuokwurushi.
Those installed are, Eze Stanford C. Achor, Chiefs Kingsley N. Wogu, Chima O. Worlu and Eze Fyneface Ejike Ikeani.
The rest are: Chief Bright Ogele, Godfrey W. Nnanna, Joel O. Amadi and Anthony O. Ogbonda, Chief Iloyd C. Otuonye, John O. Chinda, Collins Ogbonda, while a posthumous award was bestowed on late Chief Ephraim Ejekwu.
Addressing them shortly after the ceremony, Eze Worlu said the event was not by accident, but designed by God to improve the lot of people in the various communities in the kingdom.
He described the kingdom as one of the largest in the State.
“As chiefs in your various communities, you have been called to rule your people with the fear of God.
“You must therefore put God first in everything that you do,” he said.
Worlu, who is a second class recognised traditional ruler in the State, also urged them to be just in dealings with their people.
The monarch regretted the level of injustice in the society.
“Evil is now multiplying across the country, injustice everywhere. All sorts of strange things that were not happening before are happening now.
“As chiefs you have a covenant with God to be just in your dealings with the people.
“Put God first in all that you do, because God likes those who are sincere,” he said.
Later in an interview, the monarch said all the chiefs were people of proven integrity, adding that the Oro Esara Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs does not admit criminals into its fold.
Also speaking, the chairman of the council, Eze Nsirim Nwoke, said the Traditional Rulers’ Council was made up of people who have been found worthy in character, adding that those installed were chiefs who were recognised in their various communities.
Woke, who is the Eze Owhani Ke Esawu, described the ceremony as first of its kind in the kingdom.
Also speaking, one of the installed chiefs, Chief Chima Worlu, said he and his colleagues would remain grateful to the king and people of Oro Esara kingdom for the confidence reposed in them.
Chief Worlu also pledged to rule his people with the fear of God, urging for their continuous support and cooperation to succeed.
