Rivers, Safest Place To Live In Nigeria, Banigo Confirms

The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo says Rivers State is the safest place to live in Nigeria.
Banigo stated this while speaking at the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the African Future Trust United Nations Model Conference (TAFMUN) at the L.A. Kings Hotel in Port Harcourt, last Friday.
The deputy governor, who spoke through her Director of Administration, Ben Roberts said the state government has invested huge resources in its security architecture, stressing that most of the negative stories being hyped about insecurity in the state were false and politically-motivated.
According to the deputy governor, the state under the watch of Governor Nyesom Wike has continued to play host to several national and international events, noting that this underscores the fact that Rivers State was safe.
Banigo said the annual Start-up Port Harcourt Week, which was concluded, last week, was part of deliberate efforts to retell the Port Harcourt story by encouraging young Rivers youths to carve a niche for themselves in the tech digital space.
In his remarks, the Namibian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Humphrey Geiseb, who thanked the organisers for bringing together outstanding learners and students to debate issues of global importance, said Namibia was a child of international solidarity, midwifed by the United Nations, Nigerians and many other good people of the world.
Also speaking, President of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Chief Nabil Saleh, who said the world has become a global village, disclosed that no nation can make progress without the young generation, stressing that the conference would afford the children the opportunity to learn how to take charge of their affairs.
Welcoming guests, the founder of Future Trust Initiative for Capacity Building (FTI), Dr. Maureen Ifeyinwa, said her organization started out selecting, coaching and taking secondary school students to New York, USA for the National High School Model United Nations Conference, the very first non-governmental organization to do so.
According to her, the Model United Nations Conference was a simulation of real life United Nations Sessions by young adults in secondary schools and tertiary institutions, noting that it was an exposure that fosters the development of life skills for a successful performance on the global stage.
