FRSC Boss Charges Officers On Discipline …As Fleet Operators Bag Certificates
A zonal commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Assistant Corps Marshal Kingsley Agomoh, has charged the commanding officers to ensure that officers and men within the zone exhibit highest level of discipline and professionalism in their duties.
Agomroh, who gave the charge at the 2nd Quarter Strategic Retreat for 2017, organised for Commanding Officers and Principal officers in the zone in Port Harcourt, last Saturday, said they should observe standard discipline in the discharge of their jobs.
According to him, the retreat was necessary in order to evaluate the performances of the corps in the zone as well as to restrategise on a way forward for better service delivery to the people and advised them to shun extortion from motorists, unethical behaviours and unprofessional conduct in the discharge of their duties.
He assured the public that the corps would key into the new executive orders signed by the Acting President, Yemi Osibanjo recently, which was geared towards restoration of the economy as well as stimulate the nation’s economic growth.
The zonal FRSC boss reiterated that it is important for the corps to put its operational and administrative activities in order with a view to contributing its own quota for national economic growth.
Also speaking, the Zonal Head of Operations, Mr Jones Malomo, urged the participants to take the retreat seriously in order to improve their skill and knowledge in performing their duties as well as pass the information to the rank and file.
In his remarks, the Zonal Head of Motor Vehicle registration, Kelvin Odo, stressed the importance of driver’s license to motorists and called for transparency and efficiency in its issuance to road users and other activities on vehicle operations.
Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Rivers State has presented certificates to hardworking and disciplined fleet operators in the State.
Speaking while presenting the certificates on Friday in Port Harcourt, the State Sector Commander of the Corps, Corp Commander Imoh Etuk, said the exercise was to encourage the operators to sustain the standard in fleet operations as well as to encourage conformity among transporters.
Etuk maintained that the certificate presentation was mandated by FRSC Act of 2007 to certify, register operators and safety officers and other operational activities among fleet operators on a yearly assessment to determine the group and class each fleet belongs among other criteria.
He opined that those presented with the certificates had been found worthy in their operations, adding that it was also a wake-up call for other operators to meet up the required standard.
Responding on behalf of the recipients, the Operations Manager of Teverage Motors, Mr Uche Anselem, thanked FRSC and noted that the gesture would encourage them to improve on their activities and urged all to comply with the laid down principles of the corps.
