Sequel to complaints of sharp practics in property acquisition by qacks and touts an estate surveyor and value in Port Harcourt, Mr. Bestman Ariobiobara has called on intending property buyers to always consult professionals so as to ward-off the fraudsters.
Ariobiobara while reacting to questions during a chart with The Tide in Port Harcourt, said a lot of people have lost their hard-earned money to fraudsters in the process of wanting to own a property, because they did not consult professionals who should guide them on the intricacies involved.
He said the estate business has been infested by quacks and fraudsters who only gamble with people’s money.
But with Professionals involved in the business, he said that the laid down procedures will be followed, pointing one that the survey plan and deed of conveyance are very important documents in land acquisition process.
Ariobiobara who is the estate manager of the Pabod Finance and Investment Company Limited, and a member of the Nigerians Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, said that real estate business, especially in Port Harcourt is expanding, and that people who are novices in the business need to get proper information that they require so as to avoid unnecessary litigations.
The expert described the real estate business as a living human being, pointing out that a property like house has stages of life when it is born; early life and the very old age, adding that if a property is not maintained due to wear and tear, that it would be looked down on like an old woman, and that people will begin to avoid it.
According to him, the forces of demand and supply particularly in some areas in Port Harcourt are beginning to have impact on residential houses, where some of such houses have been converted to commercial use.
He, therefore, urged the public, especially the intending house owners to always consult real professionals to guide them on every move, and not to fall into the hands of quacks and fraudsters who claim to be agents.
