‘Why APC Is Not Campaigning’
Rivers State Governor ,Chief Nyesom Wike has taken a swipe at the All Progressives Congress (APC) for refusing to campaign ahead 10th December rerun elections since it has perfected plans with the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) and security agencies to manipulate the elections results to their favour .
Speaking in Emohua yesterday during the official commencement of rehabilitation of General Hospital , Emohua and the reconstruction of the Rumuakunde-Rumuche-Akpa-Abaka road works Wike averred that the plot to rig would fail because the people of Rivers State are vigilant and would not be intimidated by the illegal use of security agents to aid INEC to rig.
The governor called on Youths in the area to rise up and defend their votes , pointing out that this is the time to send non-performing politicians on retirement .
He said: “They have refused to campaign because they have received assurances of rigging.
“The man who plans to hijack materials , how many heads does he have? Emohua people must stand up to defend their votes, “ he said.
In addition, Chief Wike urged the people of Emohua to hold their prominent politicians to account, pointing out that most of them spent eight years in office without attracting a worthwhile project to the local government area.
The governor said that the two projects flagged are targeted at improving the living standard of the Emohua people.
He noted that the Rumuakunde-Rumuche-Akpa-Abaka road will enhance the economy of the local government .
Wike also announced the comprehensive reconstruction of Elele-Alimini Internal Roads and the completion of the construction of Emohua Government Secondary School demolished by the Amaechi administration .
Earlier In his address, the Commissioner for Works , Mr Bathuel Iheanyichukwu said the Rumuakunde-Rumuche-Akpa-Abaka road has led to the flight of investors from the area.
He said the reconstruction of the road will revive the economy of Emohua .
On his part, Rivers State Health Commissioner , Dr Theophilus Odagme said that the rehabilitation of the General Hospital in Emohua will create access to quality healthcare in the area.
