Kidnapping: Army Officer In Police Net

The Rivers State Police Command says it has arrested an Army officer, Lance Corporal John Yusuf for an alleged kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.
The Army officer was among the four in a kidnap gang that abducted one Samuel Iheanachor, an Agip staff at gun point, and dispossessed him of his Highlander Toyota Jeep along Oyigbo/Aba Road, before whisking him away to Asarama in Andoni Local Government Area of the State.
Iheancachor was said to have been kidnapped on the 10th October at about 9pm some 200 meters away from his residence on his way back from work on that fateful day.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Nnamdi Omoni, who disclosed this to journalists in his office on Wednesday, in Port Harcourt, said the victim was rescued unhurt by the combined team of police in the state.
Omoni said the rescue operations followed a detailed and deliberate investigation carried out by the state Anti-cultism unit of the command, which according to him, has been tracking and trailing the suspects since the incident two weeks ago.
According to the State Police image maker, the suspects have confessed to the crime, adding that they were responsible for the various kidnapping and other criminal activities within the Oyigbo and Andoni local government areas.
He used the opportunity to reiterate the earlier resolve of the State Commissioner of Police, Francis Mobalaji Odesanya on the war against crimes in the state, and urged the people to have confidence in the ability of the Police to protect lives and property in the state.
Also speaking, the arrested Army officer, John Yusuf, admitted that he collaborated, with the gang to kidnap Samuel Iheanachor.
Narrating his ordeal in the hands of the kidnappers, Samuel Iheanachor, thanked the police for ensuring his release from his abductors.
He explained that he was stopped at about 9pm on that fateful day at a road block mounted by the kidnappers, who were wearing Army uniforms, adding that he thought they were real military officers on duty.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.
This commendation was contained in a press release made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt.
According to the Head of Service, Governor Fubara has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Rivers State, stressing that such gestures underscore his people-oriented leadership style. Speaking on behalf of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Dr. Brown congratulated Governor Fubara on the occasion of his 51st birthday, describing him as “a Governor who leads by serving.”
She further praised the governor’s service-driven and people-centred leadership approach, noting that it has significantly contributed to institutional stability and improved efficiency within the state’s public service. Special appreciation was expressed for the approval of a befitting accommodation complex for Permanent Secretaries, which she said reflects the governor’s commitment to staff welfare and enhanced productivity.
As part of activities to mark the governor’s birthday, the Body of Permanent Secretaries announced the sponsorship of 329 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for indigent students across the state.
A breakdown of the initiative shows that 319 forms will be distributed across the 319 political wards in Rivers State, while five forms are allocated to non-indigenes and five forms to persons living with disabilities.

The Body of Permanent Secretaries wished Governor Fubara continued good health, divine wisdom, and greater accomplishments in his service to the people of Rivers State.

Allegation of Disrespect to President Tinubu Unfounded — Rivers Government
