Perm Sec Flays Truancy In Health Centres
The Permanent Secretary,
Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board RSPHCMB), Dr Agiriye Harry, has condemned the attitude of most staff of primary health centres across the state, describing it as unacceptable.
The condemnation followed a recent tour of primary health care facilities by the Permanent Secretary to ascertain their state and ensure adequate health service delivery to the people.
In a statement signed by the Ministry’s Press Secretary, Paul Bazia-Nsaneh and made available to The Tide, Harry noted with dismay the inactivity of most of the rural primary health centres occasioned by the lackadaisical altitude of the health personnel.
According to the statement, the Permanent Secretary frowned at the attitude of staff, describing them as those who do not take their jobs seriously. In some of the health centres particularly the Buguma Health Centre and Model Primary Health Centres, there was no staff on duty apart from the security guard.
In a quick reaction, a resident doctor of one of the primary health centres who pleaded anonymity decried the absence of medical as well as social facilities which had affected the delivery of medical services to the people of the area.
“Most of these primary health centres are just there with no basic medical facility. Also, some of these areas do not have electricity support and I wonder how we can perform effectively in such conditions. Even the patronage by the people is low because of these issues. We are ready to work but the environment is not there”, he said.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
