The Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission (PCC) in Rivers State, Dr Alpheaus Paul-Worika, says his commission has so far received 8,000 cases since he assumed office in its Port Harcourt office few months back.
The commissioner, said this when members of the Rivers East-Senatorial District Journalists paid him a courtesy visit  in Port Harcourt last week.
Paul-Worika, said cases are not kept over night at the commission, saying some field workers are always handy to address such complaints.
According to him, his presence in the commission was to re-strategise and alert the people of the true position of the commission.
He also sought the collaboration of the members of the Rivers East Senatorial District Journalists, in order to move the agency forward.
Describing the PCC as unique, he said he was bent on leaving behind both good name and image, saying, the commission is the eye of democracy.
It was also learnt that the commission handles issues like indiscriminate sack from work and those who go against labour laws by not paying workers.
The agency as The Tide further gathered, is all about due process as well as addressing  any kind of unjust treatment to workers.
In his response, the Head of Investigation, Mr Adokiye Iworima, recalled how the commission aided a woman whose husband’s entitlement was denied and got justice in the end.
He said their mandate was also based on administration issues, adding that their services were for both the rich and poor.
On other functions of the agency, he noted that they handle employer/employee relationship including cases of non-payment of compensation by companies and non-issuance of share certificates.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Rivers East Senatorial Journalists, Mr Wariso Wariso, has appealed to the PCC Federal Commissioner to work out modalities on how to integrate them into the mainstream and other issues that could bring growth to the group.
